A round painting crowded with nude women relaxing in a harem bath. Ingres painted it at the age of 82, and wrote his age on it.

He never went to the Middle East: the scene came from travel letters and his own earlier paintings. The woman with her back to us, playing the lute, is borrowed from his Valpinçon Bather of half a century before.
