The Song of the Lark by Jules Breton

A young peasant woman with a sickle stops on her way to work in the fields at sunrise, listening to a lark singing.

Jules Breton painted it in 1884. In 1934, visitors to the Chicago World’s Fair voted it the most popular painting in America. Willa Cather named a novel after it.
