Stacks of Wheat (End of Summer) by Claude Monet

In late 1890 Monet started painting the stacks of wheat in a field near his house, at different times of day and in different weather. He made around twenty-five canvases of them.

The stacks are the same; the light is the subject. Monet worked on several canvases at once, switching as the light changed. When fifteen of them were exhibited in Paris in 1891, they sold quickly.
