Collection/1800s

Van Gogh painted himself in Paris in the summer of 1887 in a straw hat and a pale jacket, with short, colorful brushstrokes all over.
Money was tight, so he painted it on the back of an earlier picture of a woman peeling potatoes. He made more than twenty self-portraits in Paris, mostly because he couldn’t afford models.
