Collection/1600s

A grinning, naked Cupid with dark wings tramples on the symbols of music, science, war and power. The title means “Love conquers all.” Caravaggio painted it in 1602.
Its owner, the Marquis Vincenzo Giustiniani, kept it behind a curtain and revealed it to guests at the end of a tour of his collection.
